Day Hiking to Shivpuri
Shivapuri hiking is situated at an elevation of 2563m and north of Kathmandu is the second highest hill around Kathmandu valley. The hiking will take us through the dense forest area at Shivpuri that is rich in both flora and fauna. Shivpuri’s entire area is known as a protected area that is home to endangered birds and animals including jungle cats, leopards, and Himalayan black bears. Shivapuri hiking goes along the rugged but drivable road through pine and cherry forest up to Nangi Gompa within one and half hours where a nunnery monastery is located and Beyond the monastery the Hiking goes steeply uphill through the oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest for another three hours. About Nagi Gumpa Situated at an altitude of 2330 m north of Kathmandu and above Budhanikantha Temple is the only Monastery for the nuns where about 200 Nuns practice Buddhism and foreigners often come there for Meditation.
