Bhutan is bordered by the Chinese controlled Tibet to the north and India to south, east, and west.

The word Bhutan mat has been derived from Sanskrit sense “end of Tibet” as Bhutan lies at the southeast border of the Tibetan plateau. Bhutan is thought of as Druk Yul meaning “The Land of Thunder Dragon” within the Bhutanese Language of Dzongkha.
