Kathmandu Valley Hiking is ideal for travelers seeking a scenic hike within the foothills of the Himalayas without committing to a multi-day trek. This hike offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural exploration.

The hike begins in the Shivapuri National Park and leads to the Nagi Gumba Monastery, a serene Buddhist monastery for nuns located at an altitude of 1,650 meters. During the hike, our guide will share insights into the unique Hindu and Buddhist significance of the region.

The trek typically lasts two to three hours through the lush Shivapuri Conservation Area. Upon reaching the monastery, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himalayas, along with the mesmerizing panorama of the Kathmandu Valley.

The best times to enjoy Kathmandu Valley Hiking are in Spring (March-June) and Autumn (September-November), when weather conditions and visibility are optimal.

We begin our one-day trip from the heart of Thamel and embark on one of the valley’s most popular and accessible hiking trails, leading to the Nagi Gumba Monastery.

We will drive to the north of Kathmandu to Budhanilkantha with a hiking guide. From there, we will hike to Nagi Gumba, which takes about one and a half hours. The hike is beautiful, crossing through dense forest along the way.

Our team guides, porters and accompanying staff are locals with a broad knowledge about each and every location that we travel through.
