Gokyo Valley Trek Overview
One of the foremost well-known trekking goals within the Everest area is the Gokyo Valley Trek. It’s also considered a typical trek and is suitable for everybody. The trek passes by six pristine Gokyo Lakes within the Gokyo Valley, and every one of them is part of the freshwater system. After we finish Gokyo Lake, we are able to see the Gokyo Ri, which is the highest hill at 5,357 m that proudly stands straight towards Mount Everest.
On the Gokyo Valley Trek, we are able to experience the culture of the famous Sherpas and learn first-hand about their renowned mountaineering skills, fascinating culture, and way of life. The beauty of mountains, lakes, glaciers, and ridges can be experienced with the Gokyo Ri Trek. Trekking in Gokyo valleys offers a great opportunity to view the Ngozumpa Glacier, known as the biggest in Nepal’s Himalaya. Gokyo’s fifth lake track is famous for large views of various mountains, including Mt. Everest, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu, which can be seen clearly from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake. You might even spot the elusive snow leopard!
We begin our 12-day trip in Kathmandu with a visit to UNESCO World Heritage sites before heading to the most beautiful and challenging experience of the Gokyo Valley Trek. If you like a touch of a challenge, we are glad to organize this Gokyo Ri Trek for you, making it a highly recommended life experience.
Route to Gokyo Valley Trek

Your Gokyo Valley Trek begins with your arrival in Kathmandu (1,345m), where our team will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your hotel. The next day, you’ll explore the cultural treasures of the Kathmandu Valley, including its UNESCO World Heritage Sites, before an early morning flight to Lukla (2,840m) – the gateway to the Khumbu region. From here, a gentle trek leads you to Phakding (2,610m), followed by a scenic climb through pine forests, suspension bridges, and Sherpa villages to reach Namche Bazaar (3,441m), the vibrant hub of the Everest region. After an acclimatization day in Namche, you’ll continue to Tengboche (3,860m), home to its famous monastery, before trekking onward to Dingboche (4,400m) for further altitude adjustment.
From Dingboche, the trail ascends to Lobuche (4,900m) and then to Gorakshep, where you’ll hike to the legendary Everest Base Camp (5,363m). The following morning, you’ll climb Kala Patthar for a sunrise panorama of Everest and the surrounding peaks. Instead of trekking back the same way, you’ll enjoy a helicopter flight directly from Gorakshep to Kathmandu, offering a bird’s-eye view of the Himalayas. The trek concludes with a farewell in Kathmandu, marking the end of your unforgettable 12-day journey through the spectacular landscapes of the Gokyo Valley and Everest region.
