Guide – Annapurna Trek

Nepal is located in the Himalayas and contains eight of the world’s ten highest peaks so, it remains a popular destination for adventure travelers in Nepal. There are different Himalayan ranges in Nepal and Annapurna is one of them. Annapurna is a massif in the Himalayas in north-central Nepal that includes one peak over 8,000 meters (26,000 ft.), thirteen peaks over 7,000 meters (23,000 ft.), and sixteen more over 6,000 meters (20,000 ft.). The highest peak of the massif, Annapurna I Main, is the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8,091 meters (26,545 ft.) above sea level.

As this trek starts from the elevation of 900m and rises up 4130m to the Annapurna Base camp it offers the view of the 10th tallest peak in the world, for trek lovers it can be an ideal vacation so, take a look at Annapurna Sanctuary trek to celebrate your holiday perfectly. Ghorepani poon Hill trek is one of the short and easy treks in Nepal that start from the lake and mountain city of Pokhara in Nepal. This trek is very suitable if you are traveling with family or who have a short vacation for trekking in the Nepal Himalayas. 

Whereas, Jomsom trek, the most popular trek in nepal begins from Nepal’s deepest gorge Kaligandaki. It will take you almost treeless barren steep rocky trail up and down. This is the pilgrim trek to Nepal’s highest temple Muktinath (altitude 3,800 meters). This trek is ideal for the person who wants to explore the diversity of Annapurna region without doing the full Annapurna Circuit trek.

 

BEST ATTRACTIONS

  • Trekking towards Annapurna region, mount Annapurna; the tenth highest mountain in the world, having the height of 8091m is itself the main attraction.
  • The villages on the way are famous for their unique culture and traditions. Some of the villages are Ghandruk, Landruk, Chomrong, etc. The traditional houses carry interesting cultures.
  • The area is rich in wildlife as some rare and endangered species of animals such as snow leopard and musk deer could be found.
  • On the way to Annapurna base camp, lies a beautiful destination- poon hill. Poon hill is famous all over Nepal for giving the best view of Himalayan ranges having the view-point at the height pf 3210m.
  • The beautiful sceneries are the main attraction of the Annapurna base camp. The panoramic view of different Himalayan range like with sunrise, sunset and the flora and fauna is what satisfies the thirst of eyes in this trek. 

 

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY 

Considering the Annapurna Base Camp altitude, Annapurna Base Camp height, and Annapurna Base Camp temperature, Annapurna Base Camp difficulty can be marked as a moderately difficult trek on the high altitude terrains of Annapurna region.

Annapurna Circuit Trek has varied trails that can be rocky, steep or slippery. The trail also includes a lot of stairways which can add difficulty than walking on straight paths. Plus, the high and varying altitude causes some difficulties during the trek.

The weather is another unpredictable aspect that will affect your trekking experience. Depending on the weather condition of the trail, the difficulty and challenges that you’ll encounter on the trail matters. So, whether you’re a first-time trekker, or aren’t at your top fitness level, you can go for this trek.

 

BEST SEASON

Trekking to Annapurna circuit is possible at any time of the year. However, the best time for Annapurna Circuit trekking is during Autumn (September, October, and November). The time between mid-September to mid-November is the peak time to go. After Autumn, Spring is the second-best time.

Whereas, the best months to trek to Annapurna base camp are pre-monsoon i.e. February, March, April and May. If you are set on trekking post monsoon though, we high recommend trekking in late September, October, November and December, furthermore early September is also an option but we prefer the months listed above.
